Chris Drew

Team Captain, Mechanical Engineering, Fall 2010

He joined the UT Formula SAE in 2006. Chris has years of leadership experience including serving as President for the Society of Manufacturing Engineers, and Chris is an Eagle Scout in the BSA. His project management experience includes working with Green Belt and Caterpillar Inc. His hard skills include tig welding and machining and over two years of SCCA driving experience. His passion for racing, innovation, and pushing the outside of the envelope ensure a successful season and the continuance of success in our program.

Pedro Viteri

Engine Team Leader, Mechanical Engineering, 2011

Pedro has been an asset to the team since 2008. He is an AWS certified highly skilled tig and mig welder, and has a strong history of mechanic and welding shop management. In addition to being fluent in Spanish and German, Pedro is an experienced machinist who is proficient with Solidworks design, finite element method and flow systems software analysis. His strong technical expertise is a crucial element contributing to the team’s success and UT Austin’s reputation for excellence.

Ryan Henderson

Ryan brings in a fresh perspective and creates a fun and enjoyable work atmosphere. Ryan’s strong desire to understand how things work and improve their efficiency in the hopes of achieving more reliability, functionality, and minimizing material resources, plays a key role in the success of the team. His mechanical knowledge, relentless dedication, and passion for the car makes him an asset to the team and a driving factor behind our efforts.

Mark Wise

CFO and Sponsor Relations Manager, Corporate Finance

Mark's initiative, strong work ethic, and extreme passion for motorsports are pushing the team to new heights. Mark has a diverse set of leadership experience including serving as Vice President in the Venturing BSA Council, current Treasurer of the Society of Automotive Engineers, and Manager of his own race team Wise Racing. His strategic asset management experience includes overseeing portfolios ranging from $4,000 to $15,000. He has also had two years experience in motorcar racing. Mark’s passion for constant challenges and improvement, love of speed, and high adventure makes him a perfect representation of the diverse longhorn leaders of tomorrow.

Kyle Mozdzyn

Ergonomics Team Leader,Mechanical Engineering, 2010

Kyle joined the UT Formula SAE in 2005. His professional experience includes working with a co-op in the Toyota design facility. Kyle is an experienced machinist and mechanic and has a great understanding of the field of ergonomics as it applies to professional motorsports. In addition, he has over 3 years experience in auto racing. His experience in recruiting and HR helps mould the next ideal recruits for our organization. Kyle knows student’s needs and will use his knowledge to promote hands on engineering experience.

Jorge Flores

Uprights Team Leader

Jorge Flores is a junior at the University of Texas at Austin, majoring in Mechanical Engineering. Jorge has been with the team since 2007. His leadership experience includes serving as Vice President and current President of the Society of Automotive Engineers. His project management experience includes overseeing construction operations. Jorge’s experience in the machine shop and strong commitment to the team make him an essential part of our success. His passion for hands on experience, creative ideas, and problem solving skills will undoubtedly be a valuable asset to encouraging good engineering practices

Joshua Kostroun

Webmaster, Mechanical Engineering, 2012

Josh joined the team in 2009 with nearly 3 years of racing experience; which include sprint karts, motorcycles. He loves spending his time at the track and around the machine shop. As an amateur machinist, he has made pillow blocks and hub flanges for this years car.  In the spring he will be away doing a co-op with General Electric in Houston. Upon his return, he wants to continue learning CNC, Mastercam, and how to weld.

Adam Pate

Mechanical Engineering, 2012

Adam enjoys liesure reading, working on cars, going to the gym, and, above all else, spending quality time with his family. He grew up enthusiastic about cars and machinery and took the first job as an auto mechanic that he could find and has developed several years of automotive work experience. He enjoys reading about the future of power production in the automotive industry and hopes to contribute to that future in whatever way possible. The reason he joined FSAE was to network with like-minded peers, establish industry connections, and have a chance to enjoy the benefits of attending a respectable engineering school.

Scott Harris

Mechanical engineering 2012

Scott has been a member of SAE since 2008 and joined to have more real world knowledge of engineering and for the fabrication knowledge needed in building cars.  He has always been interested in mechanical devices and has been working on cars since he was thirteen.  When he graduates he hopes to work somewhere in the automotive industry especially in engine design or performance.

Samuel Lema

Mechanical Engineering, 2011

Samuel is currently a second-year and is very interested in cars. He is currently hoping to obtain a summer internship with GM in the automotive industry. His future career goals include earning his mechanical engineering degree at UT and pursuing a career as an automotive engineer. He became involved with SAE to get hands-on experience and more exposure into automotive engineering.

Ty Mitschke

Mechanical Engineering, 2010

Ty is an avid fan of both college football and professional tennis. In Summer 2007, he interned with Halliburton as a field engineer, and the next summer in 2008, he began an internship with Applied Research Laboratories that he will continue through the Fall 2008 semester. Upon graduation, one of his career goals is to earn his Professional Engineer license.

Fred Engelkemeir

Electrical Engineering, 2009

Fred’s hobbies include electronics and cars although he is also interested in power electronics, audio circuitry, and electronic control systems. He has previous internship experience working for Schlumberger. His automotive and engine management interests spurn his interest in SAE as well as his desire to increase his mechanical skills.

Chris Morris

Arabic Language and Literature, 2013

Chris is new to the team this year and is interested in becoming a ME major in the future. He enjoys the outdoors, going fast, and well designed cars.  He'll probably be around for a while doing something unorthodox like a dual-degree program in totally unrelated subjects. Maybe he should add a  BFA to the BS in Engineering and the BA in Arabic . . . 

Jae Seo Pi

Biology 2013

I’ll be transferring to Engineering College this coming summer, because I found out that my passion is not in being pre-med. However, I’ll still have research experience in Natural Science college next semester involving electromagnetic physics. My ultimate goal is to become a CEO of Porsche. In the next 4 years, I would prepare myself to get into Harvard MBA program while managing my time among academics, sailing team, and Formula SAE. GO FORMULA!
